This tutorial provides a brief introduction as to the basic steps required to develop telecommunications applications using Avaya Application Enablement Services (AE Services) Device, Media, and Call Control (DMCC) Java SDK.

This intermediate-level tutorial is intended for Java programmers who have a working knowledge of telecommunications applications using the AE Services DMCC XML SDK.

Upon completion of this tutorial, the reader should be able to:

• Describe the application initialization sequence for the DMCC Java API.
• Implement various initialization steps for a DMCC Java application.
• Describe the application shutdown seuqence for the DMCC Java API.
• Implement the shutdown steps for a DMCC Java API Application.
